Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a commercial spreadsheet application written and distributed by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Application. It has been a very widely applied spreadsheet for these platforms, especially since version 5 in 1993.

Evaluation - Below is a rubric showing you how you will be evaluated on Microsoft Excel projects.



Family Budget Exercise - Open up the docuement labelled "Family Budget Excel" and then open up the Excel file "Family". Use the instructions in the document "Family Budget Excel" to modify the "Family" Excel file. This will take you through some of the most basic functions of this program.



Pizza Sale Exercise - This exercise will go more in depth on the capabilities of Excel. Open up the Word document labelled "pizza instructions' and use the instructions to work on the Excel file "pizza".



Integrated Charting - All Microsoft programs can incorportate charting. The exercise uses Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Web Navigation. Use your skills that you have acquired so far to complete this task.




Charts in Excel - This is a very in depth exercise that covers the different types of charting in Excel. It will teach you how to create a chart from a worksheet, create different types of charts, add a title and legent to the chart, change how the chart looks, resize and reposition the chart, and importing a chart into Microsoft Word.



Student Loan - This is an advanced spreadsheet exercise that incorporates several different financial functions that the program has to offer. Make sure that you work through this carefully step by step so that you don't miss a step.
